Nowadays, on the contrary, it is a lively place where every day performances by various musicians, dancers, artists, storytellers, snake charmers, etc. In the evening, there are countless mobile cooking stations where you can taste various specialties. For its uniqueness, the square and its adjacent markets have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

First we will ascend to the impressive Tizi N'Tichka pass. We then head into the High Atlas Mountains via Kasbah Teluet (the headquarters of the powerful Berber Glaoui clan) to the quaint Berber village of Ait Benhaddou, a place that has become the backdrop for many world-famous films. The destination is the town of Ouarzazate, dominated by the Kasbah Taourirt, one of the largest feudal fortresses in Morocco. The new city is known as a centre of the film industry, with several film studios located here, which hire foreign film crews for their stunning exteriors.
DAY 4 - Ouarzazate - Todra Competition - Erfoud: After breakfast, the journey begins through the plateau of the High Atlas Mountains through the so-called Valley of the Kasbahs. We'll pass through the towns of Tinerghir, Boumalne, Kalaa M'Gouna and Skoura, where there are countless kasbahs (fortresses). Halfway between the towns of Ouarzazate and Erfoud is the Todra Gorge. A walk through this natural rarity is a real treat. At its narrowest point, the gorge is only 10 metres wide and the walls reach a height of 250 metres. In the evening we arrive at the oasis of Erfoud, where we check in.
DAY 5 - Erfoud and surroundings; The next day is devoted to a full day's jeep trip around the Erfoud Oasis. The surrounding area is an important fossil site, which we'll visit along the way. In the Merzouga Oasis we'll see traditional irrigation systems, then we continue to the Taouz Oasis, located near the Algerian border. Around the oasis are prehistoric rock carvings and a pre-Islamic Berber burial site. In the oasis of Chamlia live the descendants of former black slaves, who are happy to perform for the visitors a demonstration of typical music and dances with African roots called Gnawa. At the end of the day we visit the town of Rissani. Near Rissani are the ruins of the once famous city of Sijilmassa, which was founded in the 8th century. On the way back to Erfoud, we will visit a camel farm where there is an opportunity to taste camel milk.
DAY 6 - Erfoud - Tamegrout - Zagora: After breakfast, we'll start our journey across the plateau until we reach the oasis of Tamegrout, home to one of the few ksars still inhabited, followed by the traditional quarter of the potters who produce the green decorated pottery that is typical of the Zagora area. We will stay in Zagora.
DAY 7 - Zagora - Tamegroute - M'hamid: From Zagora, our journey continues to Tamegroute, an authentic Berber town and centre of the Sufi Nasserite order.
